Remember That Time

With the rising cost of gas, groceries, etc, what are you doing different to make ends meet?

We are a family of four and I am a stay at home mom. I know my husband works hard for every penny we have so I've been trying to use coupons, watch for sales, walk to the store instead of drive ( I don't live far from the stores). I was so shocked at how high some items have gone. I've had to go store brand on some things because name brand has nearly doubled in cost. I have yet to see a change in our electric and gas bill for home but I know that is coming. I saw last night on the news where people are having their electricity cut off because they can't afford it. SAD

Sounds like you are taking some appropriate actions. In addition get those new fluorescent bulbs, I have a timed thermostat that turns the heat down at bedtime and while I'm at work. Being a stay at home mom that may not work for you as well. Take showers, no baths. For laundry, full loads only. Microwave ovens use less energy than your regular oven. In the winter, open the blinds if the sun is shining, close them otherwise. In the summer open them to let natural light in, close them to keep the heat out. Turn down the hot water heater to 150-160. If you're not on a tight budget, put yourself on one (sounds like you already do that). And come November, think twice about voting for the party that has promised to raise your taxes. Good luck!
